It took 10 designers three months to build the world’s most expensive mobile phone, but Choi Moon-Young, 49, the designer behind the project said it was worth every last diamond. He should know: The phone—a Samsung SPH-E3200—was dipped in gold paint and then studded with more than 240 diamonds, more than two carats worth. Although bids were initially received for over US$50,000, when the hammer finally dropped at a Korean auction site, the last bid was about US$14,510. Not bad considering everyone who owns the E3200 gets the same service. —CB
