The latest recycling craze? Don’t melt your trash, turn it
into great design. Swiss designer Nicolas le Moigne had
the ingenious idea of attaching a simple plastic spout to
strategically decapitated water bottles to create stylish
watering cans, and won the highest award (5,000 euros)
in the annual student design competition “Rethink and
Reuse” at this year’s Italian home design fair, MACEF. The
25-year-old’s entry beat out 2,418 competitors from 82
different countries competing on the theme of household
objects made from recycled materials. —JS
