For most boys—maybe quite a few girls too—there’s nothing cooler than a Formula One race car tearing down the track with a zipped-up, Steve McQueen-type behind the wheel. Alluring as it is, however, Formula One racing remains an intensely secretive sport: An F1 car consists of over 10,000 components with billions of dollars’ worth of high-tech (and high-touch) R&D behind it. Now you can finally get a glimpse under the hood at the Design Museum London in a show dedicated solely to the Formula One. With cars, plans, tools, and (or course) racing uniforms, you too can look like Steve McQueen or Robert Redford—but you’ll have to provide your own vroomvroom sounds.—Ian Daly
