When he first conjured the Paper Table, Brooklyn-based designer Matt Gagnon had the idea to create something “visually heavy—a monolithic object that appeared eroded.” But the concrete and resin he experimented with were far too literally heavy. So Gagnon turned to fiberboard made from recycled paper and ended up with a rather “poetic solution” for a magazine table. Gagnon laser-cuts the boards, bolts them together, and finishes it all off with linseed oil to resist water stains. The final product looks like what would happen if Bauhaus collided with Tiki—and it’s a great way to recycle your magazines. —Ian Daly
