Tramando
To many, Martín Churba is Argentine fashion. From his beginnings as a photographer in the early ’90s to his pioneering role as one of Argentina’s top fashion designers, Churba now dominates all of Argentine fashion as director of Tramando, an innovative Buenos Aires design company housing a team of designers and a research lab for textile R&D. (The company’s name comes from the Spanish word trama, woof, as opposed to warp, of a fabric.) Today, Tramando is singularly focused on new textiles, on awakening visual and tactile sensations that are pleasurable and fun, veiling and unveiling the body to cuddle, tickle, and pamper with new fabrics such as latex covered cotton. The designer’s 2006 collections, Monte and Barracas, are directly inspired by Argentina’s mountain landscape and the character of the people who live there, and Churba is now developing a men’s line and home design
collection, too.
