Earth-friendly fashion has come a long way since the days of the hemp hoodie. Paris-based fashion house Commuun eschews the granola aesthetic for runway-ready women’s wear that has as much edge as conscience. The designers, Kaito Hori and Iku Furudate, use all-natural, chemical-free fabrics such as Japanese organic cotton and Italian linen to make pieces subtly inspired by nature. (Their fall collection borrows bottomless blacks and azure blues from the sea). It’s crunchy incognito. —Ian Daly
