Nothing’s ever quite as quiet. London-based designer Duncan Wilson, in collaboration with Manolis Kelaidis, takes listening to “world music” to an entirely differerent dimension with OTTO, an ultra-sensitive vibration-translating speaker-style device. Snap its thin polymer contact side onto a glass, wall, or window, and listen as the integrated speaker system amplifies vibrations and turns the tiny tremors of the everyday into audible soundwaves.
The project, which the designers call Madsounds, is, they say, a “proposal for a different appreciation of our environment.” Interested in a symphony of silence? Snap a few OTTOs onto some everyday objects and listen closely as the sounds of the other-world become the music of our’s.
