3GSM Barcelona—and beyond!
Each year, Samsung comes to the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona with the most diverse, market-leading handsets and mobile technologies, but this year Samsung did one better, arriving with the new Ultra lineup and the first European demo of Mobile WiMAX, its new high speed 4G wireless initiative. The Ultra Edition II packs must-have functionality, including 3 megapixel cameras, high-speed Internet, and extensive multimedia capabilities into tiny, jewel-like phones. The Ultra Special line, including the brilliant F700, an HSDPA phone with 5 megapixel camera, and the innovative F520 dual slider, puts tomorrow’s technologies into user’s hands today. Samsung also demonstrated its latest Mobile WiMAX breakthroughs, including new push-to-call features and broadband capabilities. Now that’s leadership.

The Imagination CES
At this year’s CES, Samsung asked the industry to “Imagine the possibilities,” and when you look at the company’s latest offerings, you’ll see why. Top products making their debut were three new televisions including the LNT4661 LCD TV, a 1080p HD television featuring a high-end design, a 50-inch plasma TV with Samsung’s exclusive Filterbright technology, and a 56-inch slim DLP TV with an LED light source for a truly efficient TV. Several new other debuts included the 22-inch SyncMaster 226BW, meeting the highest standards for Windows Vista Premium Logo certification, the new BD-P1200 Blu-ray Player with a new IP processor (HQV), and the 1000 watt HT-TXQ120 Home Theatre System with HDMI and 1080p up-conversion. Samsung also introduced new handheld devices including the ultra-slim YP-T9B MP3 player, the small footprint CLX-3160FN Color Laser Multifunction Printer (a 2007 CES Innovation Honoree) and the totally new 1.7 pound Q1 Ultra Mobile PC for PC capabilities anytime. Samsung also introduced new A-VSB Technology, a proposed open standard for broadcasters that will let consumers enjoy digital TV anywhere they go. Imagine the possibilities, indeed!

50-nano flash magic
When you think of the remarkable, continuing innovations Samsung brings to market in flash technology, it’s little wonder why. Consider the recent announcement that Samsung is introducing the first 50-nanometer 16Gb NAND flash memory for solid state disks and other high-density applications. The first samples of this high density NAND flash memory have a multi-level cell design with a 4Kbyte (KB) page size that improves conventional 2KB paging system and doubles read speed, while increasing write performance by 150%. That means faster data transfer speeds when storing or reading large files—and more fun for you!

Double LCD genius
Ready to double your fun and slim down your pockets at the same time? Samsung, already
the world’s largest provider of TFT-LCDs, has now announced
a stunning achievement: the world’s first LCD panel that can simultaneously produce completely independent images on each side (front and back) of the
display. The breakthrough LCD,
just 2.6 mm thick and 2.22 mm wide, with QVGA (240 x 320 pixel) resolution, uses Samsung’s new doublegate, thin-film transistor (TFT) architecture, requiring only one backlight. (Rival double-screen LCDs require two.) One side operates in transmissive mode; the other, in reflective mode, uses light trapped in the opposing screen and is less reliant on external light such as the sun. It’s twice as much viewing—and just as thin as a single LCD. Like they say: double your pleasure, double your fun.

Saudi WiMax
In the Middle East, where geography often constrains high-speed digital bandwidth, there’s a new solution at hand: a Mobile WiMax network that will soon be deployed throughout Saudi Arabia by Samsung in partnership with Bayanat Al-Oula, a leading Saudi data service provider. Expected to revolutionize data services (such as high-speed internet access, video and audio streaming, and wireless VPN) in the same way mobile network technology once revolutionized voice services, the new connectivity will transform the way end-users use these services and significantly enhance their value—no matter where you are in the kingdom.
