About Al Noor

Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs is a non-profit organization under the Ministry of Social Affairs. For the past 30 years, Al Noor has provided high quality professional training to Dubai’s special needs community. The Centre’s first class was comprised of only eight children 1981, but has since grown into a recognized establishment with over 270 students.

In 2007, through the benefaction of Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, Al Noor moved to purpose-built premises in Al Barsha that was donated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE, Ruler of Dubai.

The Training Centre currently lends its expertise to over 270 children from 30 nationalities that are affected with various physical and cognitive challenges such as Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and Autism. It employs a trans-disciplinary approach to implement its training programme, and in addition to teaching, offers Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Psychological Services, Sports, and Music.

Smiles n’ Stuff is Al Noor’s very own vocational training gift and coffee shop. It is the only one of its kind in the GCC, where all the products are handcrafted by children with special needs. The goal of Al Noor’s Vocational Training Unit is to make children skilled and productive members of the community. Training is offered in Carpentry, Screen Printing, Sewing, and Bakery Units. This initiative also helps raise awareness and funds for Al Noor Training Centre.
