Samsung announces latest Home Entertainment line-up at Consumer Electronics Show 2012

Samsung’s Smart TV line-up pushes the boundaries of content, design, connectivity, and control

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – January 10, 2012 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, today revealed its range of the latest Smart TV lineup at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012; the Samsung ES9000 OLED TV and UNES8000 LED TV. The ES900 is the world’s largest super OLED TV to be produced from a single pane of glass and showcases the ultimate in picture quality by featuring unmatched vivid and true-to-life picture quality in both 2D and 3D. In comparison to even the best LED TVs, it offers virtually unlimited contrast ratios and near perfect color accuracy through several technological advancements. Additionally, the ES9000 OLED TV is equipped with Samsung’s new 1GHz dual core chipset, which allows users to run multiple apps simultaneously for an uninterrupted experience. The dual core chipset also enables the apps to open more quickly and delivers a smoother web browsing experience. The ES9000 will also take its place at the center of Samsung’s connected ecosystem, introducing voice control, facial recognition and an intuitive new gesture control user-interface. Samsung’s ES9000 also represents the culmination of Samsung’s latest design and engineering technologies, and marks a new era of minimalistic design. Because Super OLED technology features self-emitting RGB sub-pixels which do not require a backlight, the TV weighs 30 percent less than a standard LED TV, and sports a sleek design thinner than 0.3 inches—one quarter of the thickness of a conventional LED TV. In the LED TV category, Samsung’s commitment to push the boundaries of innovation and technology was evident in the unveiling of its latest UNES8000 LED TV. Featuring Smart TV features, 3D, Smart Interaction and a dual-core processor for multitasking, the UNES8000 is set to redefine the way consumers manage their home entertainment experience, access the industry’s broadest range of content and interact with their smart TVs and other devices. Powered by a new 1GHz dual-core processor to enable multi-tasking, the UNES8000 sports an ultra-slim bezel design so consumers can enjoy a larger screen size without increasing the overall size of the TV when compared to conventional models. The UNES8000 also sports a new metallic U-shape stand that adds to the sophistication this TV brings to any room. Samsung also offers an optional ultra slim wall-mount so that users can show off the TV’s slim form factor by hanging it like a picture frame on the wall. By connecting all of your Samsung devices, it allows you to move content from device to device regardless of where you are in the world and whether you are using a TV, tablet, camera, phone or a PC. • Family Story – Family Story’s photo album lets consumers organize photos and enjoy slide shows on the big screen. Families can now share memos and reminders anywhere via the phone, tablet, PC or TV. • Media Hub – Media Hub offers consumers all-star entertainment and a diverse selection of movies and TV shows the day after they air, as well as past seasons.
