The Samsung A series: Designed specifically for the ‘now’ generation

Innovating for millennials

It is high time that brands operating in the Middle East acknowledge the value of millennials, if they haven’t already. Today’s largest online audience, millennials are perhaps the most influential target group for any business, given their significant social media reach and purchasing power. They are consuming and disseminating more information on their mobiles than any generation before them, and they are relying on peer information found online and through social media to make well-informed decisions. More than 100 million monthly users access Facebook on mobiles across MENA today, and the region is one of the fastest growing worldwide for Twitter and Instagram**.

Seeking instant gratification, millennials – they are not known as the ‘now’ generation for nothing – demand a seamless and personal user experience regardless of the platform, whether in a mobile or a real-world environment. They are avid social media users, and frequently share photo and video updates from their lives with their friends through multiple channels. When designing for millennials, it is not about being the fastest to enter the market; it is about striking a balance of beauty, engagement, function and price-point.

Responding to this generation’s unique digital demands, Samsung has updated its range of Galaxy A smartphones. Now with a uni-body metal casing, the 2016 edition offers users a distinct combination of premium design and enhanced camera features in three screen size options: 5.5-inch for the A7, 5.2-inch for the A5 and 4.7-inch for the A3.

The A5 and A7 add fingerprint security and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) that prevents image blurring, as well as a front and rear F1.9 lens to allow users to take optimum photos in dark conditions, and also offering wide selfie, palm selfie and beautifying effects. Clicking the ‘home’ button twice allows users to access the camera and subsequently share their photo updates on social media instantly. The devices also feature a smart battery where unutilized functions are shut down thanks to the Ultra Power Saving Mode, allowing for more time to stay connected on the same charge.

It is particularly important to cater to this demographic as by 2025, millennials are expected to make up 75 percent*** of all workers in the Middle East. When it comes to innovation, the products and associated services must match their fast-paced world. It must meet their idea of self-expression, and it must cater to their demand to be always connected and being able to converse round the clock, on multiple channels and devices.

In the United Arab Emirates, the A3, A5, A7 are available in black, white, silver and gold and retail at Dhs 1199, Dhs 1599 and Dhs 1899 respectively.
