[Galaxy S8/S8+] Galaxy S8/S8+ device is locked by Face recognition. Do you have any plans to improve Face recognition feature not to recognize something like pictures or captured image?

Last Update date : 2017.05.09

When using face recognition to unlock your device, you phone could be unlocked
by someone or something that looks like your image and recently Samsung had
applied internal software algorithm to improve Face recognition.
(This will be available with a software update)

Regarding the possibility of the exceptional cases where the current detector can mistake
fake image as a live input, the decision logic was updated to strengthen the anti-spoofing
function and this will be applied on your device with software update.

However, due to usage of only a single frames from camera there are technical limitations
in coping with all spoofing attempts such as high-resolution images. Thus we do not
recommend
the usage of face recognition for the high security authentication applications.

Face recognition is less secure; thus, we recommend users to use the Iris recognition, fingerprint Pattern, Pin, or Password to lock the device.
