Which connections can I use to connect my Laptop or PC to my TV in order to use my TV as a monitor?

Last Update date : 2014.12.11

If your Laptop or PC has a VGA port, a DVI port, a HDMI port, then you can connect it with your TV via the corresponding ports to use your TV as a monitor.

Note: DVI and VGA ports only carry video signals; in order to have sound from the Laptop & PC on the TV you will need a 3.5mm / stereo mini jack to connect from your the Laptop or PC to the TV in the PC audio port.

Important: You may also need to adjust the Windows volume control on your laptop or PC to get audio from your TV.

An example of a standard PC Video input jack, a DVI-D input jack, and an HDMI input jack are below.

Among the three, only HDMI provides direct audio output also from the laptop to the TV.
