Colour Multi-function : I cannot scan from a network connected printer using SyncThru

Last Update date : 2017.01.26

If you cannot scan from a network connected printer using SyncThru, please do the following steps:

Step 1: Check if the Network Printer is ON.
Step 2: Check if the Network Cable is properly connected to the PC.
Step 3: Check if the printer is connected via LAN to the access point
Step 4: Check the Network Cable for physical damages.
Step 5: Check what type of IP address the printer is set to (DHCP or Static) and obtain the IP address
Step 6: Try to access SyncThru if the printer is set to Static IP

■ If SyncThru can be accessed, follow these steps:

1. Open Control Panel and go to Devices and Printers
2. Right click on the printer name, then select Printer Properties,
3. Click on the Ports tab, select the port of the printer, and then click on the Configure Port button.
4. On the port setting window, change to port name/IP address value.

● If the IP Address is the same, try printing a document (using network printing)
- If it prints, check for scan drivers – download and install if necessary – (a) try to scan a document
- If it doesn’t print, (b) reload/reinstall printer drivers (network installation) – try printing, go back to the previous step (a).

● If the IP address is different than that of the IP address on the printer – change it to the IP address obtained from the printer. Try printing a document, then go back to the previous steps (a) or (b).

■ If SyncThru cannot be accessed, follow these steps:

1. Restart the printer, computer system and router/access point and then try to access SyncThru Web Service again.
2. If SyncThru still cannot be accessed, connect the printer using a USB cable.

● If it works, recommend to upgrade the firmware of the printer. Check the following:

- Possible hardware issues (router, cables used, etc.)
- Try a different computer system to install the printer to if possible
- Can be a network related issue, contact your ISP to check configuration settings

● If still not working after connecting via a USB cable, reinstall printer and scan drivers

- If this still fails, unit requires service. Inquire about the warranty and booking service for the unit.
