My camcorder powers on, but will not record.

You cannot record after power on.


[Related Symptom]

  1. The message, “the lens cap is closed” is read.
  2. Memory is locked.
  3. Memory error (Inner/External) message is read.



  1. For HMX10 and MS20, the lens cap should be opened by hand. If the lens cap is closed, you cannot film.
  2. If external memory is locked for protection, you cannot photograph anything.
  3. This problem occurs occasionally because of frequent shooting and using the editing function in camcorder.



  1. Please open the lens cap cover by hand, after power on the following models: HMX10/MS20 (not automatic)
  2. Please turn off the protection switch on the external memory card (on the side of the card.)
  3. Please use it again after format, when the “memory damage” message is displayed. If your card has important data, contact A/S center first. The film files will be erased, when formatted.
