One Of The Mirrors On My DLP TV Set Is Stuck.

Last Update date : 2011.01.16

The heart of your DLP TV is a Digital Mircomirror Device or DMD. The DMD has up to 1.3 million microscopic mirrors that can switch on and off more than 5000 times per second. DMDs are highly reliable, but, occasionally, though rarely, single mirrors fail.

Samsung applies very high standards to its DLP TVs and consequently applies the following stringent repair policy to DMD mirror failure:

  • If your DLP TV has two or more mirrors stuck in the off (dark or black) position and displays two or more continuously dark or black pixels, the TV is out of specification and may need to be serviced.
  • If your DLP TV has one or more mirrors stuck in the on (light or bright) position and displays one or more continuously light or bright pixels, the TV is out of specification and may need to be serviced.

Important: The DMD chip and its mirrors are covered under the standard warranty for your DLP TV.  If your DLP TV is in warranty, and your TV has mirror problems that meet the mirror failure criteria above, the repair will be handled like any other in warranty repair. If your TV is out of warranty, the repair will be handled like any other out of warranty repair.

To arrange for a service appointment, call Samsung Customer Care at 0860-Samsung (0860-726-786). Have your TV's model number and serial number on hand when you call.
