RP-SAMSUNG MOBILE LAB: NURTURING BUDDING SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS
Launched on 19 May 2016, the RP-Samsung Mobile Lab bridges classroom learning and real-world application to open up new learning opportunities in mobile technology for students. Close to 80 students from the Republic Polytechnic’s School of Infocomm taking Android programming modules as part of their course requirements will benefit from the lab each year. RP and Samsung are offering a new joint certification programme in Android application development to students from the Diploma in Mobile Software Development, a first of its kind available in Singapore, to help hone students’ mobile software development expertise.
ITE-SAMSUNG TECH HUB: PREPARING YOUTH FOR THE WORKFORCE
The ITE-Samsung Tech Tech Hub was officially opened on 21 November 2014, by Ms. Sim Ann, Minister of State, Ministry of Education & Ministry of Communications and Information. Under the ITE-Samsung Industry Project Programme, students go through real-world training that will enhance their employability in the workforce, and also have the opportunity for industrial attachment with Samsung.
The facility at ITE College East comprises a Display Solutions Centre to showcase various emerging display technologies, and a Mobile Service Centre which simulates Samsung’s customer service environment to train students in mobile device technical support and customer service.
