The Samsung NX5 comes with a 3.0” QVGA LCD display for improved contrast and colour reproduction. Its Intelligent, LCD brightness, function automatically detects the light around you and adjusts the screen brightness for optimal viewing. It does the thinking for you, which makes the NX5 a smart choice.
HD movies like motion pictures
With the Samsung NX5 you can also shoot high definition movies in 720p resolution. With the advanced H.264 video compression you can also fit more movies onto the same amount of storage. The camera’s large APS-C CMOS sensor offers clear and detailed video clips, and can use the power of the lens and its adjustable aperture to give you added depth of field options. For instance you can blur out the background so your subject stands out – just like in a motion picture. In addition, the NX5 is equipped with HDMI interface so you can enjoy high resolution videos and photos direct to your high definition TV.
What you see is what you get.
Unlike other optical viewfinders which only show you images reflected from the mirror, the Samsung NX5 electronic viewfinder can convey additional OSD (on-screen display) information. If you change one of the settings in the camera, the picture you see in the electronic viewfinder will be almost identical to the picture you take.

Smart Range – Auto exposure management
Many cameras can struggle with the correct exposure (how much light to let in) when there are very bright and dark areas in the same photo. The Smart Range feature on the Samsung NX5 adjusts the image sensor accordingly so that all the details in the brightest and darkest areas are captured.
Built in automatic settings to help you take better photos
For less experienced users who may not understand the various settings, the Samsung NX5 can be switched to Smart Auto. This is a built-in scene recognition feature which will analyse the kind of photo you are taking and automatically apply the ideal settings to take the best images. Smart Auto chooses from up to 16 different scene modes such as landscape, portrait, fireworks, children mode etc. so you can obtain the great photos without complex adjustments.
HDMI & Anynet+
Simply connect the Samsung NX5 to your Samsung high definition TV and Samsung's Anynet+ technology allows you to control the camera and set up a photo slideshow using the TV remote control.
Beauty Shot
The Beauty Shot is like a built-in make-up artist in the camera. When taking portrait photos with the Beauty Shot feature on, it will automatically re-touch the photo to remove blemishes and marks around the face. The amount of re-touching can be adjusted.
