Tips for work life balance

By James Rose,  18.12.2015.

In the modern age we live in, it can be hard to find time to switch off. The good news is TV can be part of the solution to a better work life balance.

Modern TV's have so many tricks and capabilities, you'll be amazed what they can do!

Here are some simple steps to help you relax with your smart TV.

Put "you" in your calendar

Indulgence is perhaps an over-used word these days. But, the act of devoting some space for you and only you is valuable in sustaining a viable life balance.

So, those trashy shows, or that silly game you love playing can all play their part in rounding out your life, especially if it's too full with work commitments.

Don't be afraid to be selfish. Make sure you block out some Me Time.

Then, check out the range of possibilities your smart TV offers.

Switch on those you love

Interactive TV's can be channels to greater communication with your friends and family.

Sharing a game, a program or communicating with each other via social media all become part of the TV experience.1

Isn't catching up with those you love hanging out with more meaningful if you can see them? And playing a game with the kids on your set, even when you can't be actually there with them, is a great way to get some fun time together without hassle.

Get moving

It can be too easy to stay in your head when work is running full tilt. But, you need to make sure your body is happy too.

Simple exercises that can be done at home, like stretches or lifting weights, will keep your muscles moving and ensure the blood is circulating. Scheduling in a yoga session, say at lunch time, or a walk along the river will do wonders.

Be entertained, and informed

The local market has seen the arrival of big movie and series streaming services like Netflix recently. 2 This service is competing with streaming output from the big network channels, like Nine's Stan.

Then, there are music offerings. Spotify and iTunes are among the musical services can be run right into your smart TV. 3

Then there are dedicated news providers, like CNN and BBC who can be on tap via your smart TV apps. Even established print media outlets like the New York Times and the Financial Times have developed a range of multi-media content output to stream to your smart TV. 4

All this means you can better structure your chill time and schedule your binge viewing and movie nights at times to suit you. No more having to choose between watching your favourite program or reading to the kids.

Work hard, play hard

You work hard and you want to play hard too. Down time need not be static time. Your smart TV opens up a world of choice and you can have the control at your fingertips. 24/7.

Take the initiative by programming your TV range and experience to suit your lifestyle, not a TV station's program schedule.

A 2am binge session of your favourite series? Some screen time with your bestie in Europe? An early morning workout? Or, news as it happens? Your smart TV helps make it all available for you, making sure play time is your time.

Enjoy relaxing with the best TV in your very own living room.
