The software on your Samsung GALAXY S II can be updated via FOTA (Firmware update Over The Air) or using the Samsung Kies PC Software solution.

Option 1: Software update using FOTA

Please follow the steps below carefully to update your mobile device. You will need to use either:
(a) An available WiFi Internet connection; or
(b) Your mobile data connection*
*There will be no data usage charges for this software update on the Vodafone network if performed in Australia.

Step 1: Ensure that your mobile device is fully charged and has a good network coverage signal of atleast 3 signal bars or greater.

Step 2: Log into your Google Account on your mobile device (if you are using any Google features such as Gmail or Android Market you will already be logged into your Google Account).

Step 3: Log into your Samsung Account on your mobile device. You can access this via Menu > Settings > Accounts and Sync > Add Account > Samsung Account. If you do not have a Samsung Account you can create a free account by clicking "Sign up".

Step 4: Go to Menu > Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check for Update
Note: If you did not complete Steps 2 and 3, you will be prompted to do so at this point.

Step 5: The mobile device should display "Connecting to server…" then "Firmware update required. Download update package?".

Step 6: Select "Yes" to confirm software download and update commencement.
NOTE: Please do not switch off your mobile device during this process.

Step 7: Once the update has been completed, your mobile device will automatically switch OFF and switch back ON.
