Samsung GALAXY S III (3G) Jellybean 4.1.2 Software Update
An important message for Samsung GALAXY S III (3G) owners.
All Samsung GALAXY S III (3G) owners should undertake a firmware upgrade in order to resolve a recent firmware issue. The firmware upgrade will help ensure optimal performance and prevent potential loss of data. Samsung GALAXY S III (3G) owners should ensure that all data on their devices have been backed up and then proceed with the following instructions to upgrade their device as soon as possible:
Select Menu > Settings > About device > Software update > Update
Samsung highly recommends that customers connect to a WI-FI network connection when downloading the FOTA software update.
All Firmware updates / KIES updates require an Internet connection, either through a Wi-Fi connection or a mobile network. Data charges may be incurred during the software download process depending on customers' data plan with their Internet service provider or network operator. Downloading via data networks when roaming on an overseas mobile network may incur additional charges and is not recommended by Samsung.
As per normal practice Samsung recommends that customers backup ALL personal data stored on their Samsung mobile phone (including, but not limited to, Contacts, Calendar, SMS, Email, Photos, Apps, Games, Audio, Video, Documents and any other personal data and files) to a compatible Computer or External Storage device prior to commencing any FOTA update. Any applications downloaded from Google Play, Samsung Apps or other sources may have to be downloaded and installed again after the completion of the software update (Internet connection required. Data download and subscription charges may apply).
