AUSTRALIA, Sydney – November 14, 2012 – Tonight at an exclusive launch event at the Royal Hall of Industries, an iconic Australian music venue, Samsung unveiled the highly anticipated smartphone – the Samsung GALAXY Note II.
The launch was marked by the first ever collaboration between Australian music artists Ricki-Lee and Sam Sparro. Using the GALAXY Note II as a collaboration device the pair created a track titled Ninja despite being on different sides of the globe for much of the creative process. A video capturing the journey of the track creation was showcased on the night along with a live performance.
From the initial research and brainstorming to writing the song lyrics, the GALAXY Note II was an integral part of the artists’ creative experience. During the process the GALAXY Note II acted as a recording device, a note-pad, video camera, social media channel to their fans and communication medium between the two creators. The collaboration between Sam Sparro and Ricki-Lee demonstrates the full dynamics of the new GALAXY Note II for busy and creative individuals. The story of the song’s creation can be viewed at Samsung’s Australian YouTube channel also launched tonight – YouTube.com / Samsung Australia.
“The GALAXY Note II aims to offer a truly unique user experience that goes beyond passive content consumption to a different world of productivity, active creation and personalised communications,” said Tyler McGee, Vice President of Telecommunications, Samsung Electronics Australia. “What better way to celebrate the launch of the GALAXY Note II and bring to life the inspirational features of this iconic device than with a creative collaboration between two of Australia’s most creative musicians Ricki-Lee and Sam Sparro, to bring to life Samsung’s philosophy of create, collaborate and connect.
With the original Samsung GALAXY Note launch earlier this year, Samsung sought to define a new category – a combination of a smartphone and tablet. The goal of this product was to transform the way consumers interacted and created on their mobile device. The GALAXY Note II with the S Pen™ is an exceptional device for on-the-go creativity and productivity, helping people work, multi-task and collaborate. The GALAXY Note II enables users to capture ideas and inspirations on the go or combine handwriting with any digital content directly on the screen.
Larger than your average Samsung smartphone, the GALAXY Note II is fitted with a unique 5.55” (141mm) HD Super AMOLED Plus display, making the device outstanding for video viewing.
The GALAXY Note II will be available from next week for a RRP of $899. Pricing and plans for the Samsung GALAXY Note II are available through Optus, Vodafone and Telstra. Consumers can also pre-order the Samsung GALAXY Note II from the Samsung Experience Store at 450 George Street, Sydney.
