Samsung Australia announces its first printer range powered by Android

New models combine Samsung's latest in printing technology to help deliver great usability and scalability for business users

Sydney, Australia – January 21, 2015 – Samsung Electronics Australia today announced the availability of eight new multi-function device (MFD) printer models to the Australian market. The Samsung Smart MultiXpress series of MFDs are the first printers from Samsung to be equipped with the Android operating system, and are designed to be independent, intuitive and scalable for various types of local business environments.

As part of Samsung’s focus on developing printing solutions that seamlessly fit into the IT and Smart office ecosystem, the new Android-based MFDs feature Samsung’s Smart UX Centre to operate independently without the need for a PC[1], app scalability, and an intuitive user interface.

“Samsung is committed to developing simple and efficient methods to help maximise productivity and efficiency for Australian companies,” said Todd Lynton, Director – Enterprise and Small Medium

Business, Samsung Electronics Australia. “Our new printer line combines advanced printing technology innovation and performance with the user friendly Android operating system to provide businesses and IT administrators with Samsung’s smart office experience.”

Printing without a PC

The new Samsung Smart MultiXpress series of MFDs each feature a 10.1-inch full touchscreen panel that helps enable users to search and print from web browsers, emails, maps, images and other types of content (without the need to connect to a PC or server)1. The touchscreen also offers the ability to preview documents, as well as providing a range of editing and annotating capabilities.

User Friendly UX and Personalisation

The new Smart MultiXpress series MFDs feature Samsung’s Smart UX Centre, the same touch-based, customisable UX technology featured on the Samsung Galaxy line of smartphones and tablets. The Smart MultiXpress series MFDs includes haptic technology that re-creates the sense of touch with vibrations for a tactile user experience.

Extensible Connectivity

Android OS empowers the new Samsung MFDs with great printing app scalability – similar to smartphone technology – reinforcing both the connectivity and scalability of the printer range.

Furthermore, all Smart MultiXpress series MFDs are compatible with Samsung’s XOA (eXtensible Open Architecture) printing solution platform, and can be customised to meet certain specialised business needs.

Improved NFC Printing Technology

The new MFDs have now been upgraded to NFC Pro[1] to help meet the changing needs of the B2B market. By adding the new Samsung NFC Pro accessory (sold separately), the MFDs allow easy access from compatible smartphones for mobile printing, a strong user authentication process, and great IT administrative functions, such as the ability to “clone” the same security settings on multiple MFDs just by tapping on the NFC Pro accessory.

High Quality and Reliable Technology

The launch of Samsung’s Smart MultiXpress series of MFDs will help provide fast document processing speed and help enable multiple users to print and scan large documents.

In addition, the Smart MultiXpress series MFDs offers long lasting toner and drum technologies to help maximise the lifespan of previous Samsung MFDs and result in great reliability.
