Samsung Electronics Presents Its First GALAXY Camera

Nov 16, 2012

The new device features Wi-Fi connectivity and Android™ 4.1 Jelly Bean software

Sydney, Australia – November 14, 2012 – Samsung Electronics Australia has today announced the launch of the first GALAXY Camera, featuring Android™ 4.1 (Jelly Bean) software. With Wi-Fi connectivity, the GALAXY Camera combines high performance photography with mobile technology to allow consumers the ability to shoot, edit and share high quality images virtually anywhere and anytime.

“The collabouration between the mobile and digital imaging divisions has resulted in the GALAXY Camera, a product that Samsung is extremely proud of,” said Craig Gillespie, Business Unit Manager – Digital Imaging, Samsung Electronics Australia. “A connected camera must give users the total freedom to take vivid high quality pictures and videos wherever and whenever they wish, sharing them almost instantly through their favourite social networking sites or with family and friends.”

Shoot stunning quality images

The Samsung GALAXY Camera allows users to capture high quality images through intuitive controls and artistic features. The camera’s ‘Smart Pro’ feature makes it easy to recreate advanced photographic setups in just a few simple steps for stunning results. Using the easy-to-navigate menu system, users can choose from a series of preset scenario options which can automatically adjust the camera’s settings to capture an amazing photo. For example, the ‘Rich Tone’ setting delivers images with great intensity – particularly effective for reducing overexposure in bright surroundings, while the ‘Light Trace’ setting automatically controls shutter speed for atmospheric night scenes full of light trails.

With a 21x optical zoom, the GALAXY Camera helps ensure that long-distance pictures are rendered clear and crisply. Its 16.3 Megapixel 1/2.3” BSI CMOS sensor and 23mm aperture lens allow users to capture images in brilliant colour, delivering impressive wide-angle shots.

Edit for amazing images from the palm of the hand

The GALAXY Camera includes a comprehensive set of powerful photo editing features through the ‘Photo Wizard’, allowing for professional edits to be made on the go. The new features take advantage of the camera’s fast quad-core processor and 4.8” (121.2mm) HD Super Clear LCD screen, including the ‘Auto Face Calibration’ feature that can edit photos in precise detail and with ease. The ‘Movie Wizard’ feature also allows users to create and edit quality videos easily from the touch screen. The GALAXY Camera also includes ‘Smart Content Manager’, an innovative on-device organisation tool which intelligently creates folders, tags faces, and even suggests which pictures to delete when they don’t come out as desired.

In addition to the pre-installed applications from Samsung, users can browse the web and enjoy applications from Google Play or the Samsung Apps stores, including the social photography application, Instagram1. If users are not sure which app to download, Samsung’s ‘S Suggest’ promotes new photo editing apps.

With in-built Voice Control3 functionality, the GALAXY Camera also allows users to control a number of functions such as ‘Zoom in’ and ‘Shoot’ through voice recognition. All these features are housed in a beautifully designed, ergonomic body to complement its easy-to-use features.

Share your images virtually anywhere, anytime

Building on Samsung’s well established Smart Camera family, the GALAXY camera offers consumers on-the-go sharing features through its incorporation of Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity. The camera can automatically save photos conveniently through to the Cloud via Dropbox2.

The GALAXY Camera allows users to share photos as soon as they have been captured through its innovative ‘Share Shot’ feature. Along with its ability to share photos and video to popular social networking sites and cloud services, the GALAXY Camera also allows users to effortlessly share pictures across multiple compatible GALAXY devices, including the highly popular GALAXY S III smartphone1.

The Samsung GALAXY Camera will be available in Australia late November at RRP $599.
