Sydney, Australia – Wednesday, 18 September, 2013 – Samsung Electronics Australia today announced that the GALAXY Note 3, the latest evolution in the Samsung Note family of mobile devices, will go on sale at selected retail outlets from Thursday 3 October. The new Samsung GALAXY Note 3 will go on sale for an RRP of $999, with pre-sales available from 2pm today at selected retail outlets.

Along with a wide range of feature improvements it brings to Note range, the new GALAXY Note 3 delivers a larger and more advanced screen for an improved viewing and content experience. The GALAXY Note 3 also includes significant design and feature improvements to the S Pen, a feature that is unique to the Samsung Note range.

“The Samsung Note range has been one of our most successful premium mobile devices to date in Australia and around the world. We’re extremely excited to take the Note range even further with GALAXY Note 3 by offering the most advanced and innovative mobile experience we have ever been able to deliver,” said Tyler McGee, Vice President – Telecommunications for Samsung Electronics Australia.

“The GALAXY Note 3 brings a different way to experience content on a mobile device through a stunning 5.7 inch display, fantastic design and intuitive interface, as well as advancements to the S Pen, a feature that that will make using the device easy for Australians from all walks of life,” McGee added.

The GALAXY Note 3 large screen and slim design

The Samsung GALAXY Note 3 comes with a 5.7inch full HD Super AMOLED display, is 8.3mm in width and weighs just 168g. It is engineered to be more powerful and operate with a longer lasting 3,200mAh battery than previous GALAXY Note devices.

Equipped with a 13 megapixel rear camera with Smart Stabilisation and high CRI LED flash, the Samsung GALAXY Note 3 enables users to crisply capture images, even in low light conditions and active situations.

Built with 3GB RAM, the GALAXY Note 3 is engineered to offer powerful processing performance.

The GALAXY Note 3 premium form factor

In addition to technological advancements to the Note range, Samsung GALAXY Note 3 delivers a new premium look and feel. Expanding on the Samsung GALAXY design approach, the device adds a soft and textured-touch back cover and delicate side stitching, designed to evoke a connection to the design of classic notebooks and planners.

The Samsung GALAXY Note 3 will be available in Jet Black, Classic White and Blush Pink colours in Australia.

The GALAXY Note 3 S Pen offers easy and fast interaction with content

The GALAXY Note 3 includes a new S Pen, engineered to reinvent the classic note-taking experience offered by Samsung Note devices. The construction of the S Pen and its interface with the Note 3 software is designed to make daily tasks and routines easy.

A simple click of the S Pen button while hovering over the screen introduces users to Air Command, a palette of five powerful features that is engineered to make tasks easy. With the Air Command feature, there is no need to toggle between screens, memorise commands or look up different menus.

The GALAXY Note 3 Air Command feature provides access to the following key functions:

  • Action Memo allows users to handwrite a note, and automatically execute a function or convert that handwritten information into formatted content. Action Memo can instantly initiate a phone call, add to contacts, look up an address on a map, search the web* or save a task to a to-do list.
  • Scrapbook enables users to organise or track down content and information from various sources and stores them in one place so that users can easily look back on collected content. When users save content for future use, Scrapbook also stores content source material or URLs allowing them to easily refer back to the original source.
  • The Screen Write feature captures the full screen image of the current page on the device and allows users to write comments or additional information onto the captured image.
  • S Finder allows users to search for content on their device regardless of the file or content format. By putting in keywords or filters such as date, location, and content type, users can search related documents, events, communication threads, and even the Help page. In addition, users can also search for hand-written content in their notes and memo applications, as well as symbols and formulas.
  • Pen Window allows users to use the S Pen not only for drawing sketches or writing notes, but also for opening a small application window for a true multitasking experience. Simply by drawing a window of any size, anywhere on the screen, users can easily and quickly open another application window such as YouTube*, calculator or Browser without pausing current activity on the screen.

For more advanced note-taking, the new S Note presents a comprehensive solution that offers the ability to easily write, organise, edit and browse notes through a user-friendly interface that includes the Easy Chart feature. S Note can also be synced with Evernote or a Samsung account and enabled for accessing and viewing from different devices. When a user wants to capture and use a page selection, the Easy Clip feature allows them to roughly draw around the desired image; it then converts the content into a more precisely cropped image.

Enriched content viewing experience

The Samsung GALAXY Note 3 features a 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED screen that provides a stunning and defined video viewing experience, distinct clarity for reading and an elegant platform for digital content creation.

The My Magazine function provides a personalised news, social media, entertainment and in-the-moment content experience*. Developed through a partnership with Flipboard, it offers an integrated content consuming experience in a modern and dynamic magazine-style layout. Users can access My Magazine by swiping the device screen.

The GALAXY Note 3 also enables outstanding multitasking capabilities that will allow users to fully utilise the screen size.

  • With the new Multi Window, users can toggle between applications without closing windows or opening a new page, allowing for enhanced productivity and collaboration across programs. Using this feature, users can also run one application in two windows at the same time.
  • In addition, using the Drag and Drop mode within the new Multi Window, users can easily transfer supported content between windows on the device.
  • Pen Window, a feature within Air Command, further enhances the multitasking experience by offering the ability to draw a window on the screen and launch popular applications while continuing current tasks.

The Samsung GALAXY Note 3 features Group Play, an audio, video and content sharing tool originally introduced to Australian in the GALAXY S4 smartphone. Group Play allows users to share music and other forms of content with other eligible Samsung mobile devices using NFC technology. It now also gives users the ability to combine up to five mobile compatible devices in order to create a “big screen” viewing experience.

Find My Mobile

The GALAXY Note 3 is equipped with an improved Find My Mobile feature that allows users to remotely disable the phone when it is stolen or lost. With the enhanced user authentication, the technology also helps prevent stolen devices from being reset to factory settings and helps users to remotely track or erase data from the device.

Australian Content Offering and ‘Lifestyle Pack’

The GALAXY Note 3 will be delivered with a set of international and local content offerings, some of which will be unique to the device offering in Australia. The GALAXY Note 3 Lifestyle Pack will include entertainment, education, productivity and security apps designed to suite the unique lifestyles of Australians.

The GALAXY Note 3 Lifestyle Pack comes with 50GB of bonus cloud storage for two years from Dropbox, 12 months premium access to Evernote, a globally renowned productivity offering, Samsung Music Hub access for one month and a range of other content subscriptions designed to improve the device experience for Australian users.

Video functionality on Samsung Music Hub is a new feature that launches with the Note 3 and will be made progressively available to other GALAXY Smartphones.
