on Jun 23, 2009

Ultra-zoom camera now with added perks for the enthusiastic snapper

SYDNEY, 22 June 2009 - Samsung Electronics Australia is bringing greater 'shareability' to photographers with the launch of the Samsung WB550 digital camera. A step up from the Samsung WB500 model launched in March, this fully featured compact brings all the perks of its predecessor, with the added convenience of built-in HDMI connectivity so that you can share the best of your shots in HD clarity.

Offering a 24mm ultra wide Schneider lens and powerful 10x optical zoom, the WB550 brings you closer to your subject to deliver super premium photographs. The high-performance 3-inch LCD screen lets you frame and review your images with ease and the resolution of 12.2 mega pixels will ensure your images rival the quality of those hanging on gallery walls. Perfect for the 'prosumer' who wants to showcase their shots to others, the camera’s built-in HDMI output means you can connect the camera to a HD television without having to use a cradle, bringing your images or 720p video footage direct to your HD television.

"Consumers are gaining an increasing understanding of HD through the latest television technology on the market. Samsung is further extending the benefit of HD to its innovative digital camera solutions so that customers can benefit from the sharpest images yet," said Sagar Dave, Digital AV Marketing Manager, Samsung Electronics Australia.

"The Samsung WB550 offers the convenience of true HDMI connectivity so that consumers can playback their premium photographs on a HD television with ease. With its distinctive feature set, this model will appeal to anyone looking to capture shots of a superior standard and is serious about digital convergence with their HD TV to share images with friends and family."

Samsung's advanced WB550 is available now in black and grey for the RRP of $579.
