Samsung to provide upgrade TV software for improved picture quality.

Dear {first name},

We hope that your Samsung high definition TV is giving you hours of viewing pleasure. We are writing to advise you of a new release of TV software (commonly called firmware), which is designed to help improve the picture quality of your particular model. The firmware release is designed to address minor "speckling" that may potentially appear in the TV picture from time to time. If you choose not to upgrade it will not affect the continuing operation of your TV.

This new firmware will be broadcast through an Over the Air download* via Channel 2, while your TV is turned off, on the following dates:

  • 2/3 - 3/3/2011
  • 15/3/2011
  • 29/3/2011

Once the firmware is fully downloaded, the TV will prompt if you would like to upgrade when you next power on the unit. See below:

  • If you select Upgrade Later, the TV will prompt you to upgrade the next time you turn on your TV.
  • If you select Don't Upgrade, this reminder box will no longer appear and you can continue to view your TV with the current firmware version.

Once you select Upgrade Now, the TV will commence upgrading to the new firmware.

When the upgrade is complete you will see the following message:

The TV will automatically turn off and on to reset and once completed you are free to resume normal viewing.

If you have any further questions regarding this notice, please contact the Samsung Customer Service Centre on 1300 362 603.

Kind Regards,

Samsung Customer Service.

* To successfully download the firmware upgrade, the aerial (RF cable) should be connected to the aerial input of the television and the television tuning programmed to receive free-to-air Channel 2. If your aerial is connected to another device with a built-in digital tuner e.g. PVR or DVD recorder, you can still receive the firmware upgrade. Ensure that an RF cable is connected out of the PVR/DVD recorder to the aerial input of the television and the TV tuning is programmed to receive free-to-air Channel 2. Note: your TV channel does not need to be set to Channel 2 to receive the firmware upgrade, as long as it is programmed into the tuning of your TV.
