S.T.A.R.T Program

Samsung's S.T.A.R.T. Program is a free service brought to you by Samsung for our business customers willing to take responsibility in helping to keep the environment clean. Samsung's S.T.A.R.T. Program is a partnership between Close the Loop, and Samsung Australia.

This environmentally conscious program safely processes empty toner cartridges into their major usable raw components (plastics, metals, toner, packaging, cardboard and other miscellaneous materials) and then makes those recovered materials available to the raw materials marketplace for reuse in new manufacturing for a range of products.

Thank you for joining us in serving our community and our world.

How are the cartridges collected?

If your business regularly uses cartridges (3 or more per month) you may be eligible to register for a collection box in your office. The program has a convenient, free collection service run by Close the Loop. A starter kit will be mailed to you within 7-10 working days for eligible customers. Once received, assemble the starter kit and begin recycling your cartridges. When the bag is full, arrange collection.*

* For collection of consumables from Metro areas, a courier can be arranged. For regional customers, take your bag of consumables to any Australia Post outlet and hand it over the counter for return to Close the Loop.

What can be recycled through the Samsung S.T.A.R.T. Program?

ANY genuine consumable that can be removed from a SAMSUNG Laser Printer or Multi Function Printer e.g. Toner Cartridge, Drum, Imaging Unit, Transfer Belt Unit.

What happens to the cartridges?

The cartridges are sent to Close the Loop in Melbourne where they are sorted, broken down into their component materials and either reused in new products or sold for reuse. None of the waste ends up in landfill and this promise is audited annually by a certified independent auditor. Further information on the recycling process is available from Close the Loop.
