Using Vacation Mode on a Samsung Fridge

Vacation mode is designed to reduce the power usage when you go on holiday for longer periods of time. If your fridge has Vacation Mode, turning it on will keep the freezer running normally, but will keep the temperature of the other compartments below 15 °C.*

Please be advised that this is a general guide, as designs and features vary depending on the model of the refrigerator. To check the design and features specific to your refrigerator, please refer to your user manual.

*To ensure optimal performance, we recommend setting the temperature to -18°C for the freezer, and 3°C for the fridge.

Please be advised that NOT all refrigerators have the vacation mode function. To check the design and features specific to your refrigerator, please refer to your user manual. 

Side by Side and French Door Samsung refrigerators are the most likely to have the Vacation Mode functionality. The easiest way to tell if your fridge has Vacation mode is to check the control panel (if any) for a Vacation button. Fridges without a display or control panel will not be able to utilise Vacation mode. 

If you're going away but your fridge does not have Vacation Mode:

• Close the water valve to make sure you won't come home to water leaks
• Remove all food and ice from the fridge
• Unplug the refrigerator from the power supply
• Wipe excess moisture from inside and leave the doors open, to prevent mould or odour.

A 'Vacation' button, or a button with 'Vacation (3 sec)' located under it will be on the fridge control panel. To enable or disable vacation mode, simply press the 'Vacation' button, or press and hold the button with 'Vacation (3 sec)' below it for 3 seconds.

If your fridge has an umbrella  icon or the display panel looks similar to the one below, the following steps may be helpful.

1. Tap any key to wake the screen. Press the  circle icon and select the fridge.

2. Then, press < or > and find  Vacation Mode. 

*Some fridges may require you to tap the circle icon until the fridge or freezer indicator blinks.

3. Press the  circle icon to select. When activated, the icon will light up.
