How do I install the water filter in my fridge?

Last Update date : 2017.09.28

The water filter is located in the refrigerator compartment, between the crisper drawers. To install (or remove) the water filter of your French door refrigerator, follow the steps below:

Tip: If you are having trouble getting the filter out of the fridge, turn off water supply valve to the refrigerator and dispense water from the water dispenser until it runs out completely. This will lower the amount of pressure in the filter housing, and allow you to remove the filter easily. Just remember to turn the water supply valve ON once the new filter has been installed.

Step 1: Locate the Water Filter Housing between the crisper drawers.

1

Step 2: Turn the water filter counter clockwise.

2

Step 3: Pull outward the water filter as you are rotating it counter clockwise.

3

Step 4: Remove the old filter completely; insert the new filter into the filter housing, and follow the steps above in reverse to complete the installation.

Note: Apply a slow and steady pressure when you turn the filter. Turning the water filter may be difficult, but it ensures a tight seal. Moreover, remember to turn on the water supply valve if you have turned it off before installing the new filter.

Warning: To reduce risk of water damage to your property do not use generic brands of water filters in your Samsung Refrigerator. Only use Samsung brand water filters.

Samsung will not be legally responsible for any damage, including, but not limited to, property damage caused by water leakage from use of a generic water filter. Samsung Refrigerators are designed to work only with Samsung water filters.

Important: The Filter light turns red to let you know when it is already time to change your water filter cartridge. To give you time to get a new filter, the red light comes on just before the capacity of the current filter runs out. Changing the filter on time provides you with the freshest, cleanest water from your refrigerator.

**Be sure the replacement water filter has the Samsung logo on both the box and the water filter itself.
