How do I capture, view and edit screenshots?

You can take screenshots on your Samsung smartphone using the device keys or a physical gesture

 


Using keys 

You can capture screenshots by pressing the Home key and the Power/Lock key simultaneously. The screenshot will be copied to the clipboard and saved to the Screenshots folder in Gallery. 

 


Using a gesture 

Your mobile device supports a "palm swipe to capture screenshot" gesture. To turn this feature on, follow these steps: 

● Step 1: When on the Home screen, tap theGalaxy Menu Key Menu key . 

Step 2: Tap Settings ShortcutSettings

Step 3: Tap the Settings Device Tab IconMy device tab . 

Step 4: Select Motions and Gestures IconMotions and gestures

Step 5: Tap Palm motion. If the slider at the top-right of the screen is in the 'off' position tap it to enable palm motion gestures.

 

Step 6: You can now capture a screenshot by touching the screen with the side of your hand and swiping across from left to right or vice versa (as illustrated below)

Viewing a screenshot

 

Note: To open a screenshot immediately after you capture it, open the notification panel by swiping your finger from the top of the screen to the bottom, and tap Screenshot captured. Or, to view your screenshots at any time, simply follow these steps


Step 1: From the Home screen touchApps icon Apps

Step 2: Tap Apps icon Gallery

Step 3: Tap Screenshots. 

Step 4: Tap the desired screenshot.

When viewing the screenshot, the following icons are available at the top of the screen: 

● Camera: open the camera application. 
    

● Share via: share the screenshot with Bluetooth, Email, Gmail, Messaging or Wi-Fi Direct. 
    

Note: Additional sharing options may be available on your device. The options may vary based on applications installed and features you have activated. 
    

● Edit: edit the screenshot. 
    

● Delete: delete the current image file. 

 

Tap the Galaxy Menu KeyMenu key for the following additional options: 

 

● Edit: edit the screenshot. 
    

● Favourite: add the screenshot to your favourites. 
    

● Slideshow: start a slideshow of the screenshots in the folder. 
    

Photo frame: add a decorative frame to the screenshot. 
    

Photo note: flip the image over and insert text or handwrite a note. 
    

● Copy to clipboard: copy the screenshot to the device clipboard for pasting into other applications. 
    

Print: print the image to a compatible Samsung wireless printer. 
  

Rename: rename the file. 
    

Set as: Set the picture as a Contact photo, Home and lock screens wallpaper, Home screen or Lock screen. 
    

Buddy photo share: tag the screenshot for easy sharing with a contact. 
    

Crop: crop unwanted areas out of the screenshot. 
    

Detect text: detect any text in the screenshot. When text is detected you can copy the text to the clipboard for use in other apps. 
    

● Details: show technical information about the picture, such as the size. 
        

● Settings: view and edit Gallery settings. View accounts available for syncing with the Gallery. Select when sync should occur. Turn on Tag buddy or Face tag. 
    

Note: You can also Delete, Edit and Share screenshots from the notification panel. Tap Screenshot captured with two fingers slightly apart and swipe down to expand and display all options.
