Samsung TV: Why do black bars show on the left and right side of the TV screen?

Last Update date : 2017.10.23

The black colour bands on the sides appear because of the differences between the aspect ratio of the incoming signal and the aspect ratio (screen size) of your TV. For example, your wide screen TV has an aspect ratio of 16:9, while the incoming signal has an aspect ratio of 4:3.

.

Adjusting the aspect ratio of your TV (or connected external device such as a set-top-box) can resolve that issue of black bars showing on the left and right sides of the picture.
