How to delete a file from the internal memory of my device

The steps below will help you figure out how to delete media files from your mobile's phone memory.

 

Android OS Version 6.0 (Marshmallow)

for Galaxy Note3 | Note4 | S4 | S5

 

● Step 1: On the home screen tap on Apps. 

. 

 

 

Step 2: Tap on Settings. 

.  

 

Step 3: Tap on Storage. 

.

 

 

Step 4: Tap on Internal Storage. If you don't have an SD card installed on your phone proceed to step 5. 

. 

 

Step 5: Tap on Explore.

 

Step 6: Select the folder where the files you want to delete are located.

 

Step 7: On the top right corner tap on More.

 

Step 8: Tap on Edit.

 

Step 9: Select the files you want to delete.

 

Step 10: Tap on Delete and then confirm.

 

  

Android OS Version 4.4 (Kit Kat) and below

for Galaxy S3 and older

 

Step 1: On the Home screen, tap on the Apps icon.  

.

 

 

Step 2: Go to My Files. 

.

 

 

Step 3: Tap to open the All Files folder.  

.

 

 

Step 4: Select the sdcard0 folder to access the content of your phone's internal memory. 

.

 

 

Step 5: Tap to open the folder containing the media files to be deleted.  

.

 

 

Step 6: Select the files to be deleted by ticking the check boxes and then tap on the trash bin icon.  

.

 

 

Step 7: A notification message will appear regarding the deletion. Tap on the OK button to proceed.  

. 

 

Note: Media files like Photos, Videos, Music/Recordings and document/downloaded files can be deleted using the above steps. It would be best to ensure that you are deleting files that you no longer need.
