Benefits of Progressive Scan Video versus Interlaced Scan Video

Last Update date : 2017.05.03

Progressive Scan produces higher video quality than Interlaced Scan. It can give a significant increase in perceived vertical resolution and a more detailed and film-like picture.

Know more about Progressive Scan vs. Interlaced Scan video:

● A progressive scan DVD player can convert the interlaced (480i) video from a DVD into the progressive (480p) format. If you have a television that can use the progressive format - and all HDTV and DTV sets can - then a progressive scan DVD player can give you a significant increase in perceived vertical resolution and a more detailed and film-like picture.

● All progressive scan DVD players can also produce standard interlaced video, so you can still use one with any TV. But if your TV is not progressive scan compatible then you won't be able to take advantage of the 480p quality.
