Galaxy S7: What is Dual Photodiode or 2PD

Galaxy S7: The Camera

By default, each pixel of the camera is configured as a photodiode which receives light. The more the number of photodiode, more light will be accepted by the camera. This technology reduces the noise of the camera and can take pictures with vibrant colours.

Each and every one of the pixels on the image sensor has two photodiodes instead of one, meaning the professional-grade Dual Pixel Sensor can focus as quickly and as accurately as you would with your own eyes. This also means that more light will be absorbed into the camera and will be able to take high quality pictures in low light scenarios as well.

Dual Photodiode Technology of the Samsung Galaxy S7 is the world’s first technology applied in mobile devices, ensuring the best performance in low light.
