Galaxy S7: What is Dual Photodiode or 2PD

Last Update date : 2017.05.02

By default, each pixel of the camera is configured as a photodiode which receives light. The more the number of photodiode, more light will be accepted by the camera. This technology reduces the noise and camera can take pictures with vibrant colors.

Since Galaxy S7 camera supports 12M pixels and each pixel is configured by two photodiodes, it can absorb much more light than devices with a single photodiode of the same number of pixels. As a result, Galaxy S7 accepts a lot of light in the dark and takes pictures more clearly without blurring.

Dual Photodiode Technology of Galaxy S7 is the world’s first technology applied in mobile, ensuring the best performance in low light.
