Will the TV Voice recognition work in a noisy house?

Last Update date : 2017.11.03

Voice recognition using the built-in microphone on the TV can pick up your voice as long as it’s 60dB and above, however, the background noise must be lower than 40dB.

If these condition are not met and there background noise exceeds 40dB then the Voice recognition may not work properly as the TV will have a hard time trying to determine your Voice.

dB is the measure of sound level, in other words it is how loud a sound is, below is a list of different sound levels for reference:

Weakest sound heard                0dB

Whisper Quiet Library              30dB

Normal conversation           60-65dB

Telephone dial tone                 80dB

City Traffic (inside car)             85dB

Jackhammer                           95dB
