In short: Strange features (hidden CPU limits to 1.2G), screen touching keys and gets greasy. Bad battery life ~3h in reading mode with slowed down CPU and darkened screen, drains battery in 1-2days in sleep mode (I though it was thing of the past, after using my macbook).
I got this laptop in April 2013. I was generally happy with it, except several things that bugged me, and I detail them below: 1. Battery life and performance. Whenever I was measuring the speed of CPU I was getting 1.2GHz instead of 2.5 or 3.2 in turbo, even when I loaded it 100%. Even switching all power saving options off did not help. What helped is pressing the button with the Fan (F11) that allows the processor to run full speed. I suspect many people will never find this. When on Battery, even with this reduced mode, it lasts only ~2-3h, far from the declared 7h or so, which was disappointing too. Also, it drains the battery even in sleep more. I was surprised at that. Previous laptop that I had could keep the battery at same level for week or more, this laptop drained almost 60% of battery in sleep mode in 1-2 days - there should be some problem with that. 2. One of the reason I bought this laptop is it's 900x1600pix antiglare screen. I also like to keep my screen clean. Well, because of the design flaw the screen is touching keys of the keyboard, so all the grease is transferred. Maybe it needs to be pressed a bit, like in the bag, but still. Other than that I like the screen. 3. Last, but not least. It had memory leaks. After a week of sleep and use accumulates a lot of memory allocations. I might have 4-5G of physical memory allocated, but ~30Gb of commit charge (page file). Even exiting all the applications would not fix this. Only reboot would flush the memory. I tried to find the cause of this behavior, and it seems that Samsung did not do a good job with ExpressCache - another reason why I bough this laptop. Other manufacturers have made much newer version of Express cache available, while Samsung still has 0.94 or so as newest version. Company producing ExpressCache refuses to support it, referring to Samsung. What happens when the page file is overfull - the laptop is slow - to the degree that keyboard strokes are displayed in patches of 10.
