MultiXpress C8540ND uses a centre loading method with a retard roller. When more than one paper is picked up, even though it is few and far between, the retard roller rotates in the opposite direction to put back the additional paper. This mechanism can minimise not only the misfeeding, but also the paper jam ratio.
