Recycling Batteries Responsibly

  • The European Directive on Batteries and Accumulators aims to minimise the impact of batteries on the environment and encourage the recovery of the materials they contain. In the UK, regulations on the recycling of batteries and accumulators (rechargeable batteries) were Introduced in 2009. The Waste Batteries Regulations aim to significantly increase UK collection and recycling of used portable batteries from 3% in 2007 to 25% by 2012, rising to at least 45% in 2016.

  • The battery symbol on a product or on its packaging indicates that the product must not be disposed of with general household waste. Instead, it is the consumer’s responsibility to dispose of their waste batteries at a designated collection point so that they can be recycled. The separate collection and recycling of batteries at the time of dispo sal will help to conserve natural resources and ensure that they are recycled in a manner that protects human health and the environment. A comprehensive list of battery recycling centres can be obtained from: www.recycle-more.co.uk

  • All Samsung products that are subject to the Batteries Directive are compliant with the UK battery and accumulator Requirements. In accordance with national law, SAMSUNG Electronics (UK) Ltd is a member of an approved batteries producer compliance scheme. This scheme collects, treats and disposes of batteries on Samsung’s behalf.

Great System

I have had this system for a little over a year and am quite impressed. The sound quality is excellent and the receiver has lots of power. I ended upupgrading the speakers and adding a powered sub and the sound is awesome, but the speakers it came with are also good.

The whole house shakes when watching movies. The sound is also good for watching tv and listening to music, and the smart volume feature is great, especially when watching tv.

Great product

Does everything it's expected to do. Very good sound, easy to configure, and fairly inexpensive. 4X HDMI in/1 HDMI out is the way to go. Less wires, perfect HD sound! Has individual input selection buttons so easy to use with a programmable remote like the Harmony.

Highly recommend.

Connectivity is obnoxious, but not faulty.

I left 1 review for this product already, but since Samsung doesn't allow you to edit or delete your reviews, I am forced to leave another to updatesome of the issues I had.

I have managed to figure out the connection problems. What did it take? I changed the receiver source to TV as I had many times before, and pressed the "0 (audio assign)" button on the remote (instead of the one on the receiver itself as the manual tells you to do), cycling the input source to HDMI instead of it's default "OPTIC3". Don't ask me why, but this seemed to solve the issue. The receiver now remembers my setting so when I turn it off and on again, I'm good to go. So, setting it through the "audio assign" button that resides on the front of the receiver did not work (even though the instruction manual tells you to do it that way), but setting it using the controller did the trick. As for the issues with the Harmony One remote... Apparently the receiver comes with it's "anynet+" feature default set to on. I tried turning it off, and for the most part, now the controller and the receiver work in harmony. Occasionally, the receiver won't set to the correct input, but one press of the "help" button on my remote, and it sorts itself out. If this happens every once in a while, I can live with it, but when it was happening every single time, it was frustrating. So if you're using a universal controller other than your samsung controller and you have any non-Samsung devices that won't work with the "anynet+" system, turn the "anynet+" funtion off and see if that helps you. If the twisted cumbersome menu system on the receiver didn't need a diagram to get through (no, literally you need to use the diagram in the manual), then that issue may have been solved earlier, but you'd never know "anynet+" was on because you can't see it when you're scrolling through the menu. Would I buy it again now that I've figure out how to make it work? Yeah, sure. Why not? now it operates pretty much exactly as I expected it to.

Connectivity is faulty and obnoxious

I was excited to find such a good looking device for a reasonable price with 4 HDMI inputs!!! Unfortunately, that's where the excitement ends. Only2 of the HDMI inputs work as you would expect.

You switch to the source you need and the receiver recognizes that you are connected via HDMI and that's what you want. But the other 2 inputs do not work that way, you have to switch to the input source, and then manually tell the receiver that you want to use the HDMI audio input. For the 2 disfunctional HDMI slots, the receiver defaults to optical audio for an input source (which defeats the purpose of having HDMI... so why would it do this?). Additionally, once you turn the receiver off, it forgets your preference, so you have to cycle through these input options every single time!!! If you only have 2 HDMI devices to run, this receiver will work for you. If you have more, you will become frustrated with constantly telling the receiver something it should already know. It also has issues working with Universal remotes. I have a Logitech Harmony One which worked flawlessly with my last receiver. However, when it turns this receiver on, it has trouble switching the input source to the proper setting. I have to turn on the system, wait for it all to load up and then manually tell it which source I want. Again, something the receiver should already know . This remote has worked with every other setup I have had, so I know the issue is not in the remote. I bought a cheap Home Theater in a box, and I got what I paid for. If you do some reading online, you will see many others have these exact same issues. Others will complain about the sound quality, but if you live in a small condo like I do, you will not find the sound quality to be an issue. it sounds as you would expect a cheap home theater to sound. Also, I'ts huge for a 600 watt device. my last 1000 watt receiver was smaller and this had troubles fitting into my tv cabinet, albeit a small cabinet. Will I return it? Since it looks so nice and sounds decent and nothing else in it's price range looks as good, I will keep it. Would I buy it again? definitely not.
