Samsung Canada Launches #BeFearless to Help Canadians Master Their Fears

Dec 08. 2016

Gear VR Galaxy smartphone initiative invites Canadians to share their stories and join the #BeFearless movement; VR experience modules available for free download in Canada

MISSISSAUGA, Canada - December 7, 2016 - Fear ends where courage begins. Samsung Canada is bringing the #BeFearless initiative to Canada, an immersive Galaxy GS7 and Gear VR virtual reality experience designed to help users reach their full potential by mastering two of the most common fears - heights and public speaking.

Using virtual reality technology and the Galaxy S7 and GearVR, #BeFearless was designed by Samsung to help people face their fears head-on. Developed in partnership with Facebook and Oculus, the four-week gamified VR experience is designed to help users gradually face typical situations in a controlled environment. In the heights module, for example, participants first virtually experience levels that gradually increase in difficulty - from a glass elevator to a drive along a cliff. The public speaking scenarios include casual conversations, job interviews and formal presentations, and even virtual karaoke.

"As part of our ongoing commitment to make a difference in our connected lives, we believe the immersive VR innovation behind #BeFearless can empower many of us to master our fears," said Mark Childs, Chief Marketing Officer at Samsung Canada. "We hope this inspires Canadians to experience the global movement. Following its success in Europe, Russia and the United Arab Emirates, we're proud to join eight other countries to help even more people realize their full potential."

Through #BeFearless, Samsung will follow Canadian participants as they challenge themselves to master their fear of heights or public speaking with the hope to inspire others.
