Anynet+

What you should know about Anynet+:

• Anynet+ is a feature included in many of Samsung's electronics manufactured from 2007 to current model line-up.

• Anynet+ lets different Samsung devices communicate with each other in a way that eliminates the need for multiple remote controls.

• To use Anynet+ on a TV and an external device, both the television and external device must have the Anynet+ feature. Check your devices specifications to confirm that both devices have this feature.

• For Anynet + to work, you must connect the TV and the external device with an HDMI cable.

• Anynet+ setup with a home theater is slightly different, please see our how to guide on connecting a home theater system.

• The television serves as a center for all Anynet+ control. When the TV is shut off, all Anynet+ control stops.

• Anynet+ will not control a device that does not have Anynet+.

• A television or other device with Anynet is not compatible with an Anynet+ (Anynet Plus) device.

TIP: Other brand products may have a form of HDMI-CEC (Anynet+) control on their device. If it does, this may interfere with Anynet+ operation or cause undesired operation of the device. In this case you may need to disable the HDMI-CEC feature in the external device or the Anynet+ feature in the TV.

To connect your TV to an Anynet+ device, connect an HDMI cable between the device and the TV.

NOTE:

• If you connect the Anynet+ device while the TV is powered on you will get a notification on the TV informing you that the Anynet+ device is connected.

• When you connect the Anynet+ device while the TV is powered off you will not get the notification.

If both device are powered off when they are connected you may need to perform the following steps.

After Your TV Has Connect to the Anynet+ Device

After your TV has connected, the Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) section in the Tools menu will list extra Anynet features. Depending on your device, these options will differ. Below is an example of what the Tools menu would look like if your TV was connected to an Anynet+ Blu-Ray Player.

1

Using this example, if you were to select BD Player Menu, the Blu-Ray's Menu would open and you would be able to control the Blu-Ray player with its own menu using the directional pad on the television's Smart Control. Likewise, if you select BD Player Operation, you would be able to control the player using the directional pad, Play, Stop, F.F., R.W., Pause on the TV's remote.

NOTE: Because your TV sends the Anynet + commands through the HDMI connection, you do not need to have line of sight with the Blu-Ray player to control it. You can have your player enclosed in a cabinet or closet and still be able control it using Anynet+.

Disconnecting the Anynet+ Device

When you are finished using your Anynet+ device, you can disconnect the device by entering the Tools menu and selecting Anynet+, then select View TV. This returns you to the RF input. You can also press the SOURCE button on your remote. A message appears saying "Disconnecting the Anynet+ device"

NOTE: After you disconnect the Anynet+ device, it will stay powered on until you turn off the TV or turn off the device either manually or with its own remote.

Here are a few Tips to make Anynet+ operation smoother:

• Always point the remote at your television and not the device you are trying to control via Anynet+.

• After your TV has detected an Anynet + device once, you do not need to enter the Tools menu and select the device to activate it. Instead, you can use the SOURCE button on your remote to select the HDMI port that the device is connected to. Your TV will then activate the device.

• The View TV option in the Tools menu will always return you to the RF (Coax) input. There is no way to change this.

• Some manufacturers use a different form of Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC). Different manufacturers will call it by a different name but it will be a form of what is called HDMI-CEC. If you have a device with a different form of Anynet+ attached to your TV through an HDMI connection, it may interference with Anynet+ or cause Anynet+ to fail intermittently. If possible, disable that's devices feature to avoid interference. If you can not disable the feature, connect the device to the highest numbered HDMI input (Example: HDMI 3 or HDMI 4).

• You can control up to twelve Anynet+ devices connected to one TV.

• You do not need line of sight to control an external device with Anynet+.
