Nearby and Registered Devices in Samsung Link

Samsung Link is an integrated service that replaces AllShare / Allshare Play on select Samsung devices which connects your devices so you can access photos, music, videos and documents from multiple locations. View, play and send content from one device to another or access saved content on storage services such as Dropbox, Box, and OneDrive.

TVs that have the Samsung Link/DLNA feature have the ability to stream content stored on your computer or other compatible sharing device to the TV. This allows you to access your media without having to connect any additional devices to the TV.

Note: To download the Samsung Link software please visit the following website. http://link.samsung.com/

Note: Samsung Link is backwards compatible with Allshare / Allshare Play devices.

Requirements

    • Compatible TV

    • Home Network

    • Compatible media

    • Computer configured for sharing

    • DLNA compatible software (Samsung Link)

Samsung Link has two ways of sharing media. The first is nearby device sharing which shares content between two devices using Samsung Link over the same network. The second is registered devices which shares content between devices registered on the same Samsung Link account (Samsung account), this method does not require you to be on the same network but the devices have to be registered and signed into the same Samsung Link account.

Nearby Devices

Important: The Nearby devices method is used to share media with devices that are on the SAME network. An example would be viewing photos on the TV that are stored on your desktop computer.

The Samsung Link software detects other devices with Samsung Link and nearby devices turned on. There will be a notification to ask to share with the device (up to 10). The nearby devices section of Samsung Link allows you to change different settings, block / allow devices, and add folder to share with these devices.

Registered Devices

Important: The Registered devices method is used to share media between devices that are NOT on the same network. An example would be streaming music on your phone at the gym that is stored on your home computer.

You can register devices with the Samsung Link software, once multiple devices are registered under the same account you can share contents between those devices. The setting page of the Samsung Link software lets you change settings, select folders to share, and unregister devices linked to the Samsung account.
