G-Link

Last Update date : 2012.03.09

G-Link is a wired, infra-red communication system that lets the TV Guide On Screen system integrated into Samsung DLP TVs communicate with and control cable boxes and VCRs.

The G-Link system requires a special G-Link cable. This cable is Y shaped, with G-Link infra-red wands at each arm end, and a single, 1/8th inch plug, to which both arms are joined, at the other. An example of a G-Link cable with wands is below:

To install the G-Link cable, you position one G-Link wand about one inch in front of the infra-red remote sensor on your cable box, the other G-Link wand about one inch in front of the infra-red remote sensor on your VCR, and then insert the plug end into the G-Link jack on the back of your TV. Once you have physically installed the G-Link cable, you must configure the G-Link system, the cable box, and the VCR using the TV Guide on screen set up. Examples of a G-Link installations are below:

After you have set up the G-Link system, you will be able to:

  • Control your cable box using the TV Guide On Screen Device remote control
  • Program your TV Guide On Screen system to turn on your cable box and VCR automatically, and then record programs of your choice
