Corporate Marketing Manager - Corporate Marketing

Position Summary:

Incumbent will be the internal brand and consumer insight champion. Marketing leadership across the mix: ATL, PR, online, dot come, sponsorship, etc. There will be a significant focus on helping divisions build and execute their marketing and advertising programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned. In this position, either directly or through others, the incumbent will be responsible for:

    1. Leadership of the corporate marketing team and function:

      • Advertising & Communications.
      • www.samsung.com (b2b and B2C) + social media space.
      • Public Relations.
      • Sponsorship & Events.
      • Green Strategy.
      • Sports Events and Athlete Management.
      • In store programs.

    2. Plan, develop, implement , execute and measure all strategic brand building activities.
    3. Provide leadership, direction and mentoring to core team.
    4. Work pro actively with and support divisional marketing personnel.
    5. Develop recommendations for marketing investment based on sound analytics.
    6. Work directly with corporate marketing team to improve execution and implementation tactical elements – launches, events, etc.
    7. Oversee, direct and manage agencies and vendors – Cheil, Espresso, Inventa, Fjord, Starcom.
    8. Present plans and recommendations, and sell in right up to executive level.
    9. Drive innovation across all elements of the marketing mix.
    10. Daily reporting – GERP, HQ reports, presentations, etc.

Background / Experience to qualify for this position, the following minimal background and skill levels are required:

    • University undergraduate degree (Minimum requirement).
    • MBA or post grad is optional and not essential.
    • Strong proven marketing analytical capabilities - ability to synthesize data from multiple sources, be able to develop sound, well thought out strategic insights.
    • Practical experience in rapidly changing product environment - preferably electronics or similar high technology category.
    • Experience knowing how to work with multi disciplinary teams - marketing and product teams, SCM agencies and vendors, etc.

Necessary Skills/Attributes for this position the following skills and abilities must be demonstrated at a proficient level:

    • Ability to work in intense, fast paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
    • Ability to grasp shifting landscapes, respond promptly and manage conflict to successfully achieve team/company results – been through internal roadblocks, changing direction, etc.
    • Willing to own tasks outright.
    • Politically astute – reads winds of change well.
    • Strong “front wheel” – can drive teams, lead and focus on goal completion.
    • Ability to grasp nuances of multi cultural environment (e.g. Korean BM system and management style).
    • “Smart” – someone who gets it – fits our style, reads the signals well, can manage up, down and across.

Physical/Mental Demands and Working Conditions: The position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:

    • Work is generally performed in an office environment.
    • Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal 75 % of work time, including prolonged periods of time either writing or responding to emails or documents/proposals.
    • Regularly works additional hours beyond normal schedule.
    • Under light supervision with responsibility to apply policies and guidelines where decisions are periodically monitored, the consequences of decisions may affect operating results and management decisions to a minor degree. Position has access to confidential company data where disclosure may jeopardize the company’s competitive position.
    • As required, to attend key meetings and events and social gatherings (e.g. Telus Skins, Bell gala, Gretzky Tournament, etc).
    • Estimate minimum of 6 – 8 domestic trips, 2 USA and possibly 1 trip to Korea on annual basis.
