In 2005, semiconductor department recorded 20.33 trillion net sales and 5.41 trillion operating profit, each 6%, 30% reduced from the previous year. Semiconductor’s weight 25% on the whole sales in 2005, similar to the previous year. Semiconductor department is one of the strongest DRAM, SRAM, Flash memory in the world. It explores various core chips for system LSI, chip and mobile, and digital products and keep 1st rank in the industry for the past 14 years in DRAM product. Relevant products are system-on-chip, one of the highest-speed mobile AP across the nations, display drive IC, CMOS image sensor, the firstly developed combo drive of 52x RW in the world and so on.

Telecommunication recorded 20.92 trillion net sales and 2.48 trillion operating profit, weight 26% on the whole sales in 2005. First of all, the mobile phone department hit the record as much as 100 times growth of 1 million sales in 1996 for just 10 years. Telecommunication expects an improvement in sales, cost, and profit based on service competitiveness of next generation such as sustainable premium cell phone expansion, 3G, WiBro and etc.

Network business took a superiority in CDMA2000-1x market in the country and expands service Telecommunication area by successfully supplying EV-DO.

It got 20% of market share the world, and leads a large LCD panel supplier for the past 4 years. Thanks to restless development, SAMSUNG Electronics leads a large LCD development market and finally produced 82 inch LCD panel in 2005.

Digital Media department develops and produces digital TV, color monitor, DVD recorder, laptop computer, printer and mobile entertainment gadget. Particularly we take a high market share in monitor and TV across the nations and develop lots of awarded product such as the largest PDP TV and LCD TV in the world, blue ray player, the world smallest color laser printer.
