Current Models / the ES-Tool

ES (The Drive Diagnostic Utility) has been developed in order to make it possible to test Samsung hard disks irrespective of the user’s operating system status, whilst the hard is still installed in the PC. A large proportion of the hard drives sent to us actually turn out to be “NTF” (no trouble found) cases once our tests have been run. We therefore strongly recommend that you first check a possibly defective hard disk with ES and thus spare yourself the cost and effort of removing and re-installing a technically sound disk drive.

ES can only be used for hard drives manufactured by Samsung. We strongly recommend that you create a backup copy of all important data before starting the ES test: ES contains a write operation which can delete data. Samsung accepts no liability for lost data!

Older Models/ UDMA33 and 66 Interface

Shdiag (Samsung Hard Disk Diagnosis) is used to diagnose suspected defective Samsung hard disks. We strongly recommend the creation of a backup copy before you install this diagnostic programme. Samsung accepts no liability for lost data!

LiveUpdate

The LiveUpdate system helps you to update your firmware to the newest version in a quick and trouble-free manner. Download the full version of LiveUpdate and install it in your computer. Once the programme is installed, it automatically checks whether a newer version of your firmware is available and, if so, upgrades it accordingly. Magic Speed

MAGIC SPEED is a programme with which the user may user may fix the read speed for the CD-ROM drive at a level between maximum speed and low acoustic noise emission.

Wininquiry

Wininquiry is a programme for checking the disk drive type, the firmware type and if necessary the distributor. It also simultaneously updates firmware for models not compatible with LiveUpdate.
