Turn off the system's power!
Each computer has a different way of opening the case and location of the hard disk drive. Refer to the user's manual of your computer.
To prevent ESD (electrostatic discharge), use a grounded wrist strap. Open up the computer's case and locate the hard drive bays. If necessary, disassemble the hard drive rack bracket.
When the hard disk drive is level with the hard rack, gently push it in place without exerting too much force but.
Tighten the hard disk drive in place using the screws supplied with the product.
If screws other than those supplied are used, the PCB board of the hard disk drive may get damaged and cause the hard disk drive to malfunction.
Line the red stripe of the cable with the number 1 pin of the connector.
Make sure the cable is not connected in reverse since this can damage the connector.
Plug the Serial ATA data cable into the connector on the drive. It attaches only one way. All SATA drives have a new type of power connector; some also include the older, standard-size power connector. If your drive has only the new type of connector, you'll need to use an adaptor, included with most SATA drives and add-in cards.
Do not force or rock the connections into their sockets on the hard disk drive. Push them in straight until they are seated.
