SAMSUNG LCD

SAMSUNG Electronics has successfully developed the world's first single-sheet, 40" active matrix (AM) OLED (organic light-emitting diode) for emissive flat-panel TV applications. After launching its OLED development initiative in 2001 to secure leadership in next-generation display technologies, SAMSUNG developed a 14.1" WXGA OLED panel in 2004, followed by the world's first 21" HD OLED panel in January, 2005. This ambitious pace of innovation accelerated development of today's unusually large 40" OLED prototype, paving the way for large-size OLED TVs.

SAMSUNG Electronics has developed flexible LCD panel technology with sufficiently high resolution to display digital television content. The flexible display uses a transparent plastic substrate that is thinner, lighter and more durable than the conventional LCD glass panels used today. Moreover, the full-color transmissive LCD panel maintains a constant thickness even when it is bent. ..With this advancement, SAMSUNG is in a good position to continue its groundbreaking R&D and produce next-generation displays optimized for mobile applications, including cell phones and notebook computers.
