SAMSUNG Electronics Co., Ltd., Semiconductor Business is manufacturing semiconductor devices, optical media and storages.
We make our best efforts to preserve the global environment and to realize accident-free operations. To do this, we adopt the environment, safety & health management as one of the key components for business operation, in accordance with our "Green Management Philosophy" that manifests respect for human being and nature.
- We establish more stringent corporate standards than all international and domestic ESH laws and regulations, so that we can minimize the generation of pollutants and associated risks, and thus prevent ESH-related incidents.
- We minimize the usage of raw materials, energy and water by introducing clean technology, and promote the recycle and reuse of waste, aiming at contributing to a closed-loop society in terms of natural resources.
- We reduce absolute emission for PFCs by 10% in 2010 against 1997 baseline year and minimize emission of other global warming gases, thereby playing a leading role in local and international cooperative activities.
- We promote purchase of parts, raw materials and packaging materials that do not contain hazardous substances, such as cadmium, lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, PBB, PBDE, CFC, etc., and provide environmentally friendly products to our customers by utilizing Eco-design technique.
- We assess ESH impact arising from our business activities, products and services, continue to improve our practices, and make the ESH performance public on a regular basis.
- We make our workplace comfortable and safe, and improve all the employees' health, implementing a range of health programs from campaigns like 'Stop Smoking' and 'Sound Drinking' to the development of the SAMSUNG Health Promotion Index.
- We cooperate with suppliers and contractors in identifying and minimizing ESH risks across the entire supply chain in order to compliance with applicable laws and continual improvement.
- We provide all the employees with training to understand and implement the ESH management system and policy, and communicate our policy with internal and external stakeholders.
