Executive Vice President Hyung-Keun Park was appointed General Manager of the Storage Division of Samsung Electronics' Semiconductor Business in January of 2006. Samsung's Storage Division designs and manufactures hard drives aimed at both the personal computing industry and mobile environments.
Mr. Park began his career at Samsung Electronics in January 1979 working as a production technology researcher at Samsung's Home Appliance Division. In 1982, Mr. Park was assigned to the Semiconductor Division of Samsung, and for the next 24 years held various senior positions in charge of semiconductor product and manufacturing technology. After heading the ASIC manufacturing technology team from 1991 to 1995, Mr. Park was promoted to Vice President in charge of product technology for the System LSI Division. In 2000, he led the project for construction of the S-Line, Samsung's first, highly-advanced 300mm fab dedicated to System LSI products, and in 2003 was named as head of the System LSI Fab Center. In 2004, Mr. Park was promoted to Executive Vice President, and in January of 2006, was appointed to his current position as General Manager of the Storage Division.
Since his arrival as head of the Storage Division in January 2006, Mr. Park has successfully spearheaded Samsung's entry into the 1.8" hard drive market with the world's first 60GB 1.8" hard drive, and has successfully launched first-to-market offerings in all major product areas of Storage's hard drive lineup.
Mr. Park is a graduate of Sogang University in Korea, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering in 1979.
